The Role:
The Sanitation Cleaner, also known as a “Sanitor” is responsible for keeping the machines and facility clean.
Starting Sanitation positions will likely work on the plant's 3rd shift: 11pm to 7am CST, Monday-Friday. There may be a need to work any off shift; 2nd and 3rd shifts provide shift pay differential. There may be weekend shift work required.
This position has a set starting hourly pay rate, with increases after each year of service, per CBA.
What You'll Do:
- Perform manual disassembly of machines and equipment.
- Cleaning in place (CIP) and cleaning out of place (COP) the lines.
- Be able to run the line equipment for "cleaning needs" through formal training.
- Performs thorough and detailed cleaning of machines, equipment, panels, conveyors, and dip trays utilizing scrubbers, brushes, scrapers, and other cleaning tools.
- Sweep, mop, and clean floors, stairs, platforms, pits, including drains.
- Empty all garbage cans and trash containers; clean and sanitize all waste containers.
- Clean all associated equipment/constructions within the department (tables, chairs, overheads, walls, perimeter, windows, parts, control panels, doors, trash compactor area, and others are required.
- Must understand and use safety procedures when running all equipment; understanding of locking out and tagging out (LOTO) is necessary to perform this role responsibilities.
- Understands chemical hazards and follows safety procedures when using chemicals such as cleaning agents and sanitizers.
- Takes all assigned training to perform duties as assigned and follow sanitation standard operational procedures (SSOPs).
- Must be able to distinguish clean versus non-clean areas and equipment.
- Be a team player and take pride on job assignments!
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Understand and perform both dry and wet cleaning.
- Understand that sanitation may be held over to finish cleaning or assist with other tasks.
- Must complete - in full - all required paperwork.
- Know and follow master sanitation schedule.
- Must adhere to all quality and safety standards.

Performs general janitorial services including but not limited to:
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors in common areas, offices, and corridors.
- Dusting and wiping down office furniture, equipment, and surfaces.
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and replenishing supplies.
- Emptying trash and recycling bins in all office areas.
- Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Maintaining cleanliness in break rooms, kitchens, and other shared spaces.
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent education (GED) required.
- One (1) year work experience in a plant, manufacturing, warehouse or preferably food/packaging environment.
- Prefer past experience in Sanitation or Cleaner roles within a manufacturing food environment
- Prefer demonstrated work experiences with SSOP, food safety audits, and other chemical cleaning in a food/packaging environment.
- Ability to read, write and understand English.
- Ability to push, pull, lift; up to 50 pounds, as needed, on a routine basis.
- Ability to follow written and oral communications.
