What are the responsibilities and job description for the Permanent Signs Field Superintendent position at Acme Barricades?
The Field Superintendent shall oversee and be responsible for all aspects of the field personnel and field activities. The Field Superintendent shall be responsible for successfully completing all projects safely, timely and within budget. The Field Superintendent is expected to spend approximately 80% of their time in the field managing employees with the remaining time spent in the office.
Essential Job Functions : Includes, but is not limited to, the job specifications contained herein. Additional duties or job functions may be required as deemed necessary by management personnel to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Lead, manage, direct and supervise on-site construction personnel and activities at multiple locations
Work with other management to develop and ensure adherence of project schedules and budgets
Administer and execute company's safety policies and procedures; ensure on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness
Conduct safety meetings with teams and perform jobsite assessments and truck inspections
Adhere to established project timelines to ensure deadlines are met and projects are successfully completed on time and within budget
Order proper materials required for each project in a timely manner
Maintain records for daily production, safety inspections, etc. and timely submit reports to the Project Manager
Ensure project plans are followed, quality standards are met and resolve issues in the field with the owners, customers, inspectors, etc. as required
Communicate project progress, issues, etc. in a timely manner to the Project Manager, customers and inspectors as applicable
Hire, develop and train employees to effectively grow the team
Operate equipment and work alongside on-site personnel as necessary to facilitate production, train employees and ensure the safe, timely and on-budget completion of projects
Work overtime as necessary to complete projects
Assist as necessary with takeoffs and estimating
Attend meetings as required : Pre-construction, progress, safety, etc.
Desired Qualifications :
Proven work experience as a truck driver with extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Hands on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.)
Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.)

Requirements
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, plans specifications, and other documents
Computer literacy
Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
Valid driver's license required, will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance / drug testing
Work a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and / or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees
Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
Work from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
Operate hand / power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
Work outdoors, work safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
