The Metrology Technician plays a critical role in ensuring customer satisfaction by collaborating with Quality Engineers and Project Engineers to meet part approval deadlines. This includes conducting comprehensive inspections, managing metrology equipment, and supporting production and engineering teams. The position focuses on maintaining precise measurement systems, developing inspection programs, and mentoring quality staff to uphold high standards throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Program and maintain inspection equipment.
- Perform Gauge Repeatability & Reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies.
- Design and develop fixtures for measurement needs.
- Measure parts for Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Execute Process Capability Studies.
- Provide support to production, toolroom, engineering, and customers as needed.
- Train and mentor Quality Technicians and Quality Leaders.
- Perform incoming inspections of materials and components.
- Prepare Certificates of Compliance with supporting data for product shipments.
- Manage the calibration system, including outsourcing and maintaining documentation in IQMS.
- Operate and maintain DataColor equipment for color sample analysis.
- Collaborate with the quality team to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Complete tasks assigned by the Quality Manager promptly and accurately.
- Perform Melt Flow Index (MFI) testing on incoming resin lots and molded parts when required.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, and ISO 14001).
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience with GD&T.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in programming visual and touch probe measuring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T specifications.
- Effective communication and teaching skills to support and train team members.
- Expertise in using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools.
- Strong computer proficiency.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift or carry objects as needed.
- Close vision for computer and measurement work.
