Essential Piece
This position helps achieve that goal by being a front line staff. As a staff doing direct support, this person will be there every day providing all aspects of support to each individual they work with. This person is the eyes and ears for everyone else within
ADVANCE and the first person to advocate for each individual they support.
Purpose
The purpose of this position is to assist with all things that are day-to-day events in an individual’s life. This will include personal cares, financial assistance, health & wellness, cooking, cleaning, medical assistance, goal fulfillment, transportation and social support.
Position Requirements
This position requires an applicant to have: a completed HS Diploma or GED, Valid driver’s license and be capable of being covered under agency driver insurance.
All applicants Must pass pre-employment drug screen & background check.
Training Requirements
All training will be provided by Advance and will be paid on-the job training. This includes:
New Employee Orientation, Medication Administration Class, Online Classes, and a variety of location-specific training.
Position Job Duties
1. Provide personal hygiene by assisting with baths, toileting, shaving, tooth care and personal grooming.
2. Provide for activities of daily living by assisting with meals, feeding individuals as needed; ambulating and positioning individuals.
3. Follow dietary guidelines and support as needed with cooking, buying groceries, cleaning, organization and healthy choices.
4. Document supports offered as needed by completing reports, forms and records.
5. Maintain confidentiality of all individuals supported.
6. Adhere to professional standards and Advance policies and procedures.
7. Assist individuals in community involvement; driving to events, social support, budgeting assistance, problem-solving,
8. Administer and inventory medications. Assist with medical needs such as: vital signs, blood sugar draws and weight tracking.
9. Provide support in areas of household maintenance: cleaning, laundry, shopping, organization and safety & security.
10.Offer support in areas of exercise; OT/PT requirements;
11.Use problem-solving skills to ensure safety for each individual supported.
