Advanced Medical Transport of Eastern Illinois (AMT East) is the premier provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, as well as parts of Iowa. AMT East is a private, not-for-profit organization operated for community benefit.
As a Paramedic Shift Lead you will provide daily support to our customers and caregivers in the Danville Market through continuous direct contact and provide a secondary point of contact, alternative to the Operations Manager for staff. This is a 24/48 rotation. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Job Duties:
- Manages EMTs and Paramedics on assigned shift
- Maintains appropriate staffing on their assigned shift
- Maintains the standards of AMT East
- Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy
- Ensures crew compliance with established medical protocols, policies, and procedures
- Assist and assures the completion of daily rig checks, medication audits, and narcotics audits, insures that the paperwork is turned into EMS
- Oversees training and evaluation of prospective and new employees that are assigned to their shift
- Serves as a clinical preceptor, trainer, mentor, and participates in the evaluation of personnel assigned to their shift.
- Attends Supervisor meetings as well as all staff meetings
- Inspects assigned stations, crews, and vehicles on a frequent basis and assigns work with areas needing improvement to insure operational readiness
- Ensure that their assigned shift finishes all ePCRs are completed by responding crews within the proper timeframe, including attaching all appropriate paperwork.
- Conducts internal investigations in a timely and complete manner, and documents findings appropriately. Provides timely updates of all complaints until they are resolved.
- Documents and takes corrective action up to and including written warnings, without prior approval required, when necessary.
- Functions in a command role on scene as necessary
- Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations, or their designee
Qualifications
- Two years of experience as a Paramedic
- Two years of experience as a Field Training Officer (FTO)
- Valid Illinois driver’s license
- Valid Illinois paramedic license
- Valid AHA Basic Life Support certification,
- Current certification classes as required by EMS system
- ICS100, ICS200, IS700, and IS800 required
- Understand the principles and practices of emergency medical care and EMS system operations
- Familiar with laws, regulations and requirements related to EMS
- Comfortable with computer operation and data analysis
- Thorough knowledge of all AMT East policies, procedures, and medical protocols
- Effective communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to follow and enforce policies and procedures
- Knowledge of the AMT East’s response areas
