Job Summary
The Maintenance Assistant supports the efficient operation of production and facility equipment by performing essential maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include conducting preventative maintenance, handling minor repairs, assisting the maintenance team with larger repair projects, and operating cleaning equipment, such as the floor scrubber. Additionally, this role involves performing oil changes, adjusting machinery, and ensuring equipment is well-maintained to support optimal production. The Maintenance Assistant works closely with the maintenance team to uphold safety and operational standards across the facility.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Repair, adjust, and rebuild production and facility equipment
Perform oil changes
Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery
Complete minor repairs
Assist the maintenance team with major repair projects
Operate the floor scrubber
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2-4 years of experience in machine repair, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Electrical experience is beneficial
- Proficient in operating lathe-mill and grinder, as well as brazing, sticking, and wire welding
- Ability to work independently with strong self-motivation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Able to obtain mobile equipment certification and operate equipment safely
- Skilled in reading manuals, blueprints, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
- Above-average math skills and legible handwriting; proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English; familiar with various measurement tools (e.g., micrometer, caliper)
- Capable of multi-tasking, working in a team environment, completing assigned work as directed, and potentially assisting in training new or temporary employees
- PC literate with the ability to learn necessary AGRATI programs
SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAINING:
- Complete Environmental, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures training of self and staff, administration of all programs, audits and corrective action plans in area
- IATF16949 Quality Systems administration and ISO 14001 and 45001 Environmental Management Standards.
- PLEX Computer skill.
- Lock-out/Tag-out procedures.
- Hazardous chemical program training.
- Certification of mobile equipment operation.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Must have own hand tools (English 1 ¼” and Metric to M30)
- Must have own micrometers and veneers; or, may purchase through employee payroll deduction
- Willingness & ability to perform work internally and externally
- Must be able to free-lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must work all required scheduled overtime
- Ability to work within a two-shift operation; 1st or 2nd Shift or split-shift between the two.
