Alcon is hosting a comprehensive 4-day in-person Extern development event for 30 rising Sophomores. The externship will focus on diversity and inclusion, professional development, learning about the R&D function, and Co-op and Internship opportunities at Alcon. The purpose of this externship is to provide a developmental experience for the benefit of those who are selected. The R&D ‘Innovate Boldly’ Diversity Externship is committed to cultivating diverse student partnerships. Candidates from historically underrepresented backgrounds are encouraged to apply. We innovate boldly, champion progress, and act with speed as the global leader in eye care.
Participants will not perform services for Alcon.
In Person Location: Alcon headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas

If you are selected to attend the ‘Innovate Boldly’ Diversity Externship event, you will have the opportunity to:
- Participate in hands-on leadership development workshops
- Enhance your technical skills and learn more about research & development at Alcon
- Get advice and network with our ERG (Employee Resource Group) members
- Complete a team case study
- Attend developmental workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions
- You will receive an invitation to interview for a Summer 2026 Internship! Please note that not all interviews will result in employment offers.
- Externship is unpaid and not for credit
- Expenses (travel, hotel, meals will be covered by Alcon)
- Current rising sophomore (graduating between December 2027 - August 2028) with strong academic performance (current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above)
- Applications close Friday, March 7, 2025
- The externship is not virtual
- Must be able to participate in-person in Fort Worth, TX, on August 11 – August 14, 2025
