We are looking for a Controller with a strong background in financial leadership within complex manufacturing operations. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining financial policies and procedures, overseeing data processing, managing standard costs, expense budgets, forecasting, profit planning, and capital expenditures. This role involves supervising, leading, and mentoring the accounting department staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements.
- Planning and Forecasting: Develop annual business plans and forecasts, and anticipate sales and costs to create business forecasts and profit plans.
- Budget Management: Coordinate plant activities in accounting, costs, and budgets; review operations and criteria for cost standards and expense budgets.
- Performance Measurement: Measure monthly operating performance against approved goals and objectives.
- Cash Flow Optimization: Manage and optimize cash flow.
- Inventory Management: Coordinate year-end physical inventory and additional inventories as necessary.
- Capital Expenditures: Prepare and justify appropriation requests for capital expenditures according to corporate guidelines.
- Internal Auditing: Conduct internal audits and ensure compliance with quality, environmental, and material management systems.
- Expense Management: Ensure proper account distribution for expenses, inventories, and fixed assets.
- Closing Procedures: Facilitate monthly closings by reviewing accounting data for accuracy.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting department staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: At least 3 solid years recent financial leadership experience in a manufacturing plant with supervisory responsibilities.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computerized accounting systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Communication Skills: Ability to interact effectively with senior management and corporate personnel; excellent communication, presentation, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership: Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and delegate authority to subordinate personnel.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of financial and budgetary controls.
- Professionalism: High degree of professionalism, organizational skills, tact, and diplomacy.
