Job Description

Position Summary

The Loan Servicing Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of loan servicing functions for both commercial, real estate and consumer loans, which include but are not limited to the overall maintenance of active loan accounts.

Essential Functions

  • Book new loans and review, for accuracy, loans booked by other employees.
  • Review loan documents such as notes, mortgages, modifications, title policies, and Uniform Commercial Code 3 Financing Statements to prepare for imaging and filing.
  • Ensure new loans contain proper documentation by securing missing information.
  • Monitoring documentation with attorneys and title companies to meet policy deadlines. Perform final checklist sign off to ensure all credit, collateral, imaging and other documentation is satisfactory.
  • Prepare payoff statements and other request forms in writing as needed.
  • Process insurance updates (ensure all necessary insurance coverage provided as required), and follow up with insurance agents for renewal policies. This includes property, liability, builders' risk, and flood insurance.
  • Handle any other loan servicing functions involving loan maintenance on an as needs basis.
  • Review, sort and promptly deliver incoming mail for loan servicing department employees.
  • Follow through for pertinent missing documentation prior to imaging and filing.
  • Process loan payments and loan advance.

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree (AA), two-year Business College or technical school; or equivalent work experience (knowledge typically gained through 36 months banking loan servicing experience).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of banking operations and functions (knowledge of loan servicing a requirement).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Windows, including proficiency in Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Ability to problem solve quickly, by using all available resources afforded by department and business partners.
  • Ability to collaborate and relate well to all kinds of people, build appropriate rapport and constructive, effective relationships, and use tact and diplomacy to handle situations comfortably.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly in order to effectively convey information so that others understand and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time up to 90% of work hours.
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, handle or feel.
  • Ability to use computer keyboard and system to enter data and process information.
  • Ability to read a computer screen at a close distance.
  • Ability to read, talk clearly so that others understand, hear, comprehend the written and spoken word, and see.
  • Ability to use telephone to communicate with others.
  • Ability to use office equipment such as scanner, personal computer, telephone, mobile device, copier, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
  • Open floor work environment.

Pay: $26.00 - $29.00 per hour
