Position Summary
The Retail Training Program introduces recent college graduates to the banking industry from the front line of Retail Service and Sales. In this two year training and development program, new hires to Amboy Bank will acquire basic transaction skills and gradually advance to roles as Head Teller to Customer Service Representative. During the program, new hires will also spend time in other parts of the bank potentially including: Residential Lending, Deposit Operation and Call Center.
This role provides employees new to the workforce with an opportunity to gain industry knowledge about banking products and services while cross training with experienced staff on establishing customer relationships. Employees will work with designated mentors to learn the fundamentals of Retail branch and administration operations through hands on experience, presentation and cross training.
During the Second Year of the program employees who are ready to advance will go thru a set of area rotations to complete understanding of Retail Banking services.
Essential Functions – Year I
Service Representative
- Assist clients with inquiries and resolves matters in a professional and courteous manner
- Learn how and then processes clients transactions according to the Bank's policies and procedures.
- Completes daily proof, investigates, resolves and reports out of balance conditions to supervisor.
- Maintain knowledge of all Bank products and services to effectively promote the Bank to clients
- Learn and participation in other daily Service Representative activities.
Supervising Service Representative
- Continues to perform Service Representative and trains to develop skills and begin to:

o Schedules and coordinates the daily and weekly workflow and Service Representative staff.
o Monitors the Service Representative performance.
o Conducts regular Service Representative staff meetings to insure compliance with all Bank policies and procedures.
o Provides technical support to the Service Representative area, additions and deletions to systems, software updates and off-line.
o Maintains vault control to include cash orders, shipment verifications and vault logs.
o Researches, reports and tracks Service Representative differences.
o Performs branch audits of Service Representative 's and consignment items
Essential Functions – (Personal) (Relationship) Banker, Loan Servicing/Deposit Operations/Residential Mortgage – Year II
- Complete area rotation to develop better understanding of client, bank and back office process.
(Personal) (Relationship) Banker
- Learn and comply with banking standards on policies, procedures and operational guidelines for customer service
- Learn to manage customer complaints and service issues, promptly and effectively
- Promptly and effectively research and resolve customer inquiries to client satisfaction
- Become knowledgeable about bank products to ensure clients are well informed on products and service information to help with future banking needs
- Support branch teller needs on ad hoc basis
Residential Mortgage
- Learn and comply with banking standards on policies, procedures and operational guidelines for customer service
- Learn to manage customer complaints and service issues, promptly and effectively
- Promptly and effectively research and resolve customer inquiries to client satisfaction
- Become knowledgeable about bank products to ensure clients are well informed on products and service information to help with future banking needs
- Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate Amboy Bank values in all actions
Deposit/Loan Operations
- Rotate thru operational roles to understand source of information, how systems process and the group manages different functions. Functions include: Non post, Signature review, Overdraft and debit card applications and Reg resolution.
- Post, reconcile, research and clear varying banking items received daily

- Review suspicious Checks and resolve outstanding items
- Interact with branch offices and clients on areas of concern involving checking and savings accounts
- Promptly and effectively research and resolve branch inquiries
Training Program Job Requirements

Working Conditions
- Moderate sound as in business office with office machines, computers, and people traffic.
