What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solar Service Technician position at Ambrose Solar?
Ambrose Solar is looking for a talented and experienced individuals to join our team in our Service Department. We are looking for a go getter. A relational customer service oriented individual with troubleshooting skills within the solar and energy storage industry.
Job Duties
The job duties listed below are typical examples of the work required to be performed by the person/s in this position. Not all duties are included, and it’s important that it is understood duties and tasks may be added as the manager sees fit and/or needed.
- Perform diagnosis and troubleshooting of solar PV systems, including inverters, panels, wiring and monitoring equipment
- Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance of systems
- Repair and/or replace defective equipment, wiring and other components
- Complete necessary documentation for system repairs for customer, company and manufacturers
- Follow all company safety protocols and comply with OSHA and all local electrical codes
- Remotely troubleshoot installed solar systems displaying systems of poor performance based on monitoring data as needed
- Work with equipment vendors to diagnose hardware failures
- Provide exceptional customer service via phone and email
- Reporting and notating customer accounts in CRM System
- Locating/retrieving customer information in database
Job Qualifications
- Ability to plan ahead and prioritize tasks efficiently, also make decisions and take action.
- Ability to maintain professional, courteous demeanor on the phone as well as in the office.
- Computer skills/knowledge of Microsoft Office, with intermediate experience in Excel.
- Knowledge of the company, its products/services, procedures and operations.
- Knowledge of the application of instructions and guidelines to specific problems.
- Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate tasks, and to resolve work related problems.
- Ability to answer questions and determine appropriate course of action \
- Ability to maintain records, complete reports/lists, and compose correspondence/emails.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- MUST HAVE knowledge of solar and/or battery storage installation and function
- MUST HAVE basic knowledge of how electrical components function
- MUST HAVE ability to use electrical testing equipmet
- MUST HAVE familiarity with solar monitoring systems and inverter brans such as SolarEdge, Enphase, SMA, Sunpower
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- There may be stressful conditions such as size of workload and/or other specific deadlines.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and or lift packages up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable with working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces or crawl spaces as needed
- Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.
Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Active Valid Electrical Trainee Card REQUIRED
- Journeyman Electrician (preferred)
Experience
- Must have at least two years customer service experience.
- Solar installation and/or monitoring solar performance
- Microsoft office programs
- CRM Database programs
- Solar and/or Battery Installation experience required
