Job Description Summary:
American Asphalt Paving Co in Shavertown, PA is seeking a talented, self-motivated and experienced Human Resources Assistant / Recruiter to support our busy Human Resources department. Under the direction of the HR Manager, the successful candidate will:
· Recruit top-notch, high-quality candidates and own the recruitment process from sourcing candidates, reviewing applications to new hire processing.
· Conduct pre-employment assessments, reference and criminal background checks; licensing, medical card and other certification checks; pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; and FMCSA drug & alcohol Clearinghouse checks.
· Source new avenues of recruiting and serve as a liaison with colleges and trade schools to develop applicant pool. Attend job fairs and other recruiting events.
· Set-up and maintain human resources information database in Vista Viewpoint, pull key reports for managers, and assist in developing a monitoring system.
· Provide support in administering safety, wellness and other company programs, trainings, and initiatives. Help facilitate in the implementation of department policies and procedures, and ensure employee compliance.
· Provide a variety of administrative support functions to the human resources and payroll departments. Prepare, compile and maintain new hire packets, and assist in the preparation of employee mailings during benefits open enrollment; prepare 401K retirement mailings, payroll mailings, and other mailings as needed.
· Ensure that human resource files and records are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures.
· Answer employee’s queries about HR-related issues.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business desirable.
· 2-3-years of experience in recruitment or talent acquisition;
· 3-years proven experience as an HR Assistant or Administrative Assistant in an HR environment, or other HR related role.
· The successful candidate will have a broad range of experience in human resource functions, including recruiting, maintaining HRIS database, HR support roles, and employee engagement.
· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and HRIS databases.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills; and customer-oriented with a professional courtesy attitude.
· Demonstrates initiative, willingness to take on greater challenges, and excellent analytical and multi-tasking skills.
· Ability to handle highly sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
· All employees must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening test, and be willing to submit to, and pass, random drug/alcohol testing.
