Summary
As a Human Resources Assistant at United Methodist Homes, you will play a vital role in providing administrative support to the HR team. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills & responsiveness, strong attention to detail & sense of urgency, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Responsibilities
- Assist in posting job openings, reviewing resumes, and coordinating interview schedules with hiring managers.
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and reference checks.
- Prepare and organize onboarding documentation for new hires, ensuring compliance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee files, ensuring all required documentation is current and compliant with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with the administration of employee health benefits, retirement plans, and leave programs.
- Maintain benefits documentation and work closely with the HR team to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as healthcare industry regulations.
- Prepare reports, audits, inspections and other HR-related documentation for regulatory purposes.
- Assist employees with questions and concerns related to HR policies, benefits, and workplace issues.
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives and retention efforts.
- Provide administrative support to HR team during conflict resolution and disciplinary procedures.
- Assist in organizing and scheduling training sessions for employees.
- Track employee training and certifications to ensure compliance with nursing facility standards and regulations.
- Assists with policy communication and development.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, HR-related events, and other administrative tasks.
- Support payroll processing by ensuring accurate data entry and compliance with regulations.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Proven experience in human resources or related field, preferably within a nonprofit or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of HRIS/ payroll systems or data base systems.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact positively with employees at all levels.
- Experience with project management principles is beneficial but not required.
- Ability to conduct research and analyze data effectively for decision-making purposes.
- Knowledge of HR best practices and PA employment laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree or in Human Resources or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of related experience in HR or administrative support, preferably in a healthcare or skilled nursing/long-term care environment.
