The 2nd shift Team Lead directs, leads, and coordinates activities of the department on 2nd shift including operating any area as required by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following: (Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules.)
- In conjunction with department leadership and Plant Manager, reviews work orders to estimate worker hours and create daily schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
- Shifts operational focus of the 2nd shift crew to meet the daily production focus of the plant.
- Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from purchasing department.
- Interprets specifications and blueprints to workers and assigns duties.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, with supervision.
- Performs preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replaces components.
- Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- .Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees.
- Must be able to read, understand and interpret plant drawings and spec boundary sheets.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
- Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to effectively use spreadsheet software and word processing software (Microsoft Office and JD Edwards).
- Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
- Must be able to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and specification boundary sheets.
- Must be able to lead up to 10 employees on 2nd shift.
- Must be able to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, vision, core values and applicable laws.
- Must be able to interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; and address complaints and resolve problems.
- Must be able to make recommendations regarding hiring, termination and corrective actions with the plant manager making the final decision.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Welding experience preferred.
