Team Lead 2nd Shift

The 2nd shift Team Lead directs, leads, and coordinates activities of the department on 2nd shift including operating any area as required by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following: (Other duties may be assigned, including but not limited to cross training and housekeeping. Responsibilities also include attention to safety according to all safety rules.)

1. In conjunction with department leadership and Plant Manager, reviews work orders to estimate worker hours and create daily schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
2. Shifts operational focus of the 2nd shift crew to meet the daily production focus of the plant.
3. Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from purchasing department.
4. Interprets specifications and blueprints to workers and assigns duties.
5. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
6. Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
7. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
8. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
9. Maintains time and production records.
10. Repairs or replaces defective parts, with supervision.
11. Performs preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replaces components.
12. Performs other tasks as instructed by supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• .Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Must be able to speak effectively before managers or groups of employees.
• Must be able to read, understand and interpret plant drawings and spec boundary sheets.
• Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Must be able to compute ratio and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
• Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be able to effectively use spreadsheet software and word processing software (Microsoft Office and JD Edwards).
• Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate in English.
• Must be able to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and specification boundary sheets.
• Must be able to lead up to 10 employees on 2nd shift.
• Must be able to carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, vision, core values and applicable laws.
• Must be able to interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; and address complaints and resolve problems.
• Must be able to make recommendations regarding hiring, termination and corrective actions with the plant manager making the final decision.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

• Welding experience preferred.

• The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands & arms & climb or balance.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
