Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Quality with expertise in plastic injection molding to lead and manage our quality management systems (QMS). This role is essential for ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485, and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements. The Director of Quality will oversee quality processes for molding tooling production across various industries, including aerospace, medical, Department of Defense (DoD), and others. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement initiatives, maintain the highest quality standards, and ensure customer and regulatory requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Management Systems (QMS):
   • Develop, implement, and maintain QMS in compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485, and ITAR regulations.
   • Lead internal and external audits, including corrective action plans and follow-ups.
2. ITAR Compliance:
   • Ensure all products, processes, and documentation meet ITAR compliance standards.
   • Maintain secure handling of controlled technical data, ensuring compliance with export control regulations.
   • Act as a primary point of contact for ITAR-related audits and inquiries.
3. Leadership & Team Management:
   • Manage and mentor a team of quality professionals, including quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.
   • Foster a culture of quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Certifications:
   • Ensure ongoing compliance with industry-specific certifications and regulations, including ITAR, AS9100, and ISO 13485.
   • Oversee certifications and act as the lead for audits by regulatory bodies and customers.
5. Process Improvement:
   • Identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes, reduce defects, and increase operational efficiency.
   • Implement lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
6. Collaboration Across Departments:
   • Work closely with engineering, production, and tooling teams to address quality issues and improve product reliability.
   • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to resolve quality and compliance concerns.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
   • Develop and present quality metrics, KPIs, and compliance reports to senior leadership.
   • Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality procedures, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience:
  • 8 years in quality management, with at least 3 years in a director-level role.
  • Extensive experience in plastic injection molding and tooling.
  • Proven expertise in managing AS9100, ISO 13485, and/or ITAR compliance.
• Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis).
  • Proficient in regulatory and industry standards across aerospace, medical, and DoD sectors.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher).
• Experience with ITAR-controlled environments, including secure data handling and export controls.
• Familiarity with advanced manufacturing technologies, including automation and digital quality tracking.
