We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal DevOps Engineer to lead and scale our DevOps team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with modern DevOps practices and a deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitLab as the primary tool in our tech stack. You will also be responsible for supporting legacy technologies, including AccuRev, Jira, and Jenkins, while steering the organization toward modernization and process improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
    • Define team goals, prioritize tasks, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • DevOps Infrastructure & Pipeline Management:
    • Architect, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
    • Oversee migration and modernization efforts from legacy tools (AccuRev, Jira, Jenkins) to GitLab.
  • OS Management & Support:
    • Manage the creation, installation, updates, and maintenance of operating systems, particularly RHEL.
    • Ensure system hardening and compliance with cybersecurity standards.
  • Legacy Support:
    • Provide support and enhancements for legacy technologies, including AccuRev, Jira, and Jenkins, ensuring business continuity.
    • Plan and execute phased deprecation strategies for legacy systems where applicable.
  • Automation & Scripting:
    • Develop and implement automation solutions for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring       
      Write and maintain scripts in Bash, Python, or other relevant languages to streamline processes

Education, Work Experience, Skills and Competencies Requirements:

  • 8 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or a related field, with 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD and proficiency in administering GitLab pipelines.
  • Familiarity with legacy tools such as AccuRev, Jira, and Jenkins, with a proven track record of modernizing DevOps environments.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong expertise in automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Proficiency in Linux, with a strong emphasis on RHEL9.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align DevOps initiatives to business goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with enterprise migration from legacy tools to modern DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of security compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
  • Certification in DevOps or cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA).
