Job Description Summary
Responsible for managing all aspects of the patient referral to intake process, including managing members of the intake team, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with partners and referral sources, responding to customer requests and concerns, and managing the insurance verification and authorization process.
Essential Responsibilities
- Directs all daily patient referral and intake operations
- Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP referral/intake regulatory requirements
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources
- Provide direct oversight of the insurance verification and authorization process
- Recruits, selects, orients, and directly manages members of the referral/intake team
- Gathers and reports referral statistics including key customer referral trends
- Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- At least two (2) years' experience in hospice intake management preferred
- Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in healthcare management, preferably home care operations
- Demonstrates the ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel
- Knowledge of business management, governmental regulations (including HIPAA), CHAP standards, and private payer practices
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and public relations skills
- Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities
