Who are we? Animal Hospital at Oakleaf Plantation is located in a rapidly growing neighborhood near Cecil Field/Westside of Jacksonville, FL. We are a multi-doctor, fast paced, fear free, busy state-of-the-art, full service small companion animal hospital with first-class team members who are focused on patient care. We have been proudly serving our community for over 17 years. We are a Monday through Friday Animal Hospital.

Our process: Applicants who demonstrate characteristics that meet our needs will be offered paid working interviews within our hiring budget. Working interviews are paid at a rate of $15 per hour. We usually make an employment determination decision after applicants have worked a minimum of 20 hrs. Our newest employees have been with us for over five (5) years with other employees having worked here for over 15 years. We seek long term employment employees.

We are filling one (1) full-time position for a Nurse Veterinary Assistant/Technician with three (3) years or more of continuous experience at an Animal Hospital/clinic. We prefer a CVT, LVT, or RVT (but not required). We also prefer fluency in English and Spanish.
We hope to fill this position within 2-4 weeks pending availability of qualified candidates.

You should be driven to learn and excel in a fast paced work environment providing the highest level of care veterinary medicine can offer.
Your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, three pillars of excellence:
a) veterinary technician/nurse duties: maintaining exam rooms and treatment areas; assisting the doctor in treatment, rooms, and surgery; restraining animals; administering injections (SQ, IM, and IV) and phlebotomies (jugular, cephalic, and saphenous); IV catheterization; conduct client education; recognize signs and symptoms of patient distress; perform digital radiographs (whole body and dental); perform and evaluate laboratory tests such as intestinal parasite screens, urinalyses, ear and skin cytology, and blood work; perform dental cleanings; assist with inventory management; and provide all-around excellent patient care; and other duties as assigned
b) receptionist duties: scheduling appointments; in/out client processing; payment processing; end of day reporting; and answering phones; and other duties as assigned;
c) kennel duties: sanitizing rooms/cages; walking drop-offs; administering client medications; bathing animals (if soiled); and accountability of client’s pets possessions; and other duties as assigned.
Other requirements: You must be able to lift 40 lbs.; stand for long periods of time; and have the availability to work days, some weekends (let's discuss), and some holidays (non-negotiable). This job announcement offers 36 hours each week. This position requires a practical knowledge of veterinary hospital procedures, policies and services.
