Job Title: Commercial Loan Relationship Manager (Commercial Loan Officer)

Function: Commercial Banking
Reports To: VP Commercial Banking
Purpose: The primary goal and responsibility of the Commercial Loan Officer is to grow a profitable portfolio of commercial, commercial real estate, and business loans, with the overall objectives of increasing brand awareness among both new and existing members. This is largely accomplished through developing and retaining relationships by providing existing and prospective members with an extraordinary experience in accordance with the credit union’s core values. Our combination of local decision making, community focus, innovative products and personalized service are key components to Arbor building long-term relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Calls on both prospective and existing members to develop new business and to expand existing relationships.
- Builds and maintains referral relationships and a personal network within COI affiliations.
- Performs necessary research regarding member’s business and industry, including independent analysis of financial statements.
- Collaborates with the Credit Department to ensure that all loan presentations and annual reviews are accurate, thorough, and completed based on internal policy and industry standards/norms.
- Presents opportunities, as well as calling efforts and community engagement activities, to appropriate loan committees and other internal partners.
- Communicates CU loan decisions to Members, closes commercial loans and services ongoing financial needs of Commercial Members.
- Consistently maintains a loan pipeline that would ensure annual goal attainment.
- Assures that Member satisfaction is achieved through intentional and timely communication, both written and verbal, always representing the CU via its Core Values of Work Together, Do the Right Thing, Innovate and Have Fun.
- Effectively manages an individual portfolio of commercial relationships to ensure compliance with terms of Business Loan Agreements as well hands-on remedial maintenance of past due accounts.
- Work within the CU’s LOS/CRM system to document Member needs, actions taken and needed follow up.
- Responsible for ensuring periodic contact with assigned members occurs, including collection of required annual financial statements and maintaining proper risk ratings on assigned portfolio.
- Drive relationship management by identifying cross-sell opportunities and introducing our product partners to help provide for relationship banking.
- Participate in joint calling and prospecting with product partners when appropriate
- Conduct thorough effective pre-call planning and prompt post call follow up
- Monitor, on an ongoing basis, information concerning customer financial performance, condition, and industry trends to determine that any credit exposure is at an acceptable risk, and priced accordingly
- Promote and maintain a confidential environment to protect member, employee, and credit union information
- Follow all credit union policies, procedures and requirements including, but not limited to, those regarding the Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, in addition to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations
- Create and promote a positive professional image of one’s self and the credit union
- Exemplify the Credit Union’s vision, core values, and service promise
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or comparable work experience
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of commercial lending, credit analysis, and/or sales experience in the financial services industry
- Demonstrated involvement in the community
- Strong understanding of commercial business development techniques and credit decisioning activities
