What are the responsibilities and job description for the Continuous Development Manager position at Atalco Gramercy Operations?
Job Summary/Objective
This position will be responsible for driving significant improvements in operational processes as well as driving reliability, quality assurance, and value creation. The development manager will be able to lead the organization in improving quality, reducing lead times, and reducing overall costs. The process improvement integrated systems for managing industrial production processes include human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics, cost analysis, and production coordination.
Essential Functions
- Confer with management to establish continuous improvement goals/objectives.
- Identify practices and areas that need improvement. Lead efforts to implement changes.
- Lead multi-functional teams, by influence, in Kaizen workshops and other Continuous Improvement activities
- Estimate the production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for review, action, and control.
- Develop, manage, and control the scope, costs, schedule, and timing of projects through completion.
- Create metrics and objectives to drive accountability throughout the organization.
- Engage the leadership team in setting and achieving goals utilizing Lean / Six Sigma initiatives. This will include working with key leadership to both functionally and strategically drive overall improvements in specific areas.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize workflow and eliminate waste.
- Provide input and feedback to leadership personnel about process improvement opportunities.
- Improve efficiency and create a well-ordered work environment within the organization through execution of 5S.
- Organize, plan, review, and ensure open communication throughout the organization by keeping management informed of project statuses.
Education/Training Requirements
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field
- Lean Six-Sigma Certification. Black belt preferred but not required
- CIM Certification preferred but not required
- At least 5 years of experience in business strategy or project management
- Previous experience in the manufacturing and production field a plus
Work Environment
- Work setting is primarily an office setting. Strong presence in the field is expected.
Physical Demands
- May be required to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- May have to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and climb.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
