Auburn University at Montgomery invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer/ International Student Success and Retention Coordinator. This position will be expected to:
- Teach both halves of the World History survey, with the likelihood of teaching the first half more than the second half.
- Teach upper level course in area of specialty when needed.
- Teach in both face-to-face and online modalities.
- Complete the required Canvas training to teach online.
- Display creativity and concern for student learning and success in class structure and assessments.
- Demonstrate a willingness to work with students and fellow faculty to create better and more engaging learning experiences.
- Meet regularly with international students, face to face, to discuss their academic, personal, and professional progress relative to their AUM experience and ensure that they are aware of institutional support services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of every student interaction including in-person visits, phone consultations, internet correspondences, and any other communications.
- Develop relationships with AUM faculty and staff to encourage involvement in international student success.
- Maintain, and deliver timely responses and data reports regarding international student success.
- Stay abreast of current issues and trends related to international college students’ academic success and retention through active professional development.
- Manage existing and develop new academic and campus partnerships focused on international students.
- Facilitate academic success presentations and workshops to various campus partners.
- Develop new initiatives designed to support the academic, personal, and leadership development of international students.
- Assist in university retention initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills:
- Knowledge of applicable University practices and procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
- Knowledge of the transition needs of international students
- Ability to speak in public and make presentations
- Interpersonal skills
- Written communication skills
- Ability to respond to multiple competing demands
- Ability to use a computer and relevant software applications
- Ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds
- Ability to effectively use technology
Qualifications:
Master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred.
