Overview:
As a Logistics Router at Baer’s Furniture, you will utilize Dispatch Track routing software to plan over 200 daily deliveries over various routes within assigned regions, adjusting routes as necessary for address corrections, delivery changes, and various delivery challenges. You will use discretion and independent judgement to strategize and optimize routes for our private fleet and third- party delivery teams, ensuring customer needs are met while maximizing efficiency. This role involves complex decision making in a fast-paced environment.
Duties:
· Strategize and execute daily route planning, ensuring routes are efficient, cost effective, and geographically sound
· Adheres to route optimization standards, such as vehicle load capacity, delivery time windows, driver schedules, driver proximity and HUB locations
· Collaborate with team members to proactively review and enhance routes, ensuring that the design provides the driver with the best opportunity to complete all tasks within the specified time frames `
· Conduct daily checks on delivery communications to ensure accuracy of client and delivery requests
· Assist Delivery Managers in adjusting routes as needed due to breakdowns, late trucks, and other unforeseen circumstances; adapt to changes, adjust routes, and find solutions during unexpected situations
· Accurately input and manage route information in Dispatch Track, updating as new communications are received from clients, store personnel or Customer Relations as it relates to routes and deliveries
· Understand transportation operations and optimize delivery processes
· Collaborate with the dispatch specialist in monitoring, tracking, reporting of delivery team performance using Dispatch track and Samsara
· Maintain effective working relationships with other employees and management
· Clock in and out according to Company Policy
· Assists in other duties and projects as assigned
Experience:
· 2 years of Routing or last mile logistics or operations
· Preferred experience in Blue Yonder or GERS retail systems is highly desirable for this position
· Experience in using Dispatch Track or other similar software for optimizing final mile delivery routes
· Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs or equivalent
· Demonstrate a proven track record of effective prioritization and adept time management
· Strong leadership and communication skills
· Possess a strong sense of urgency and personal accountability
· Consistently demonstrates reliability and commitment, maintain a steady and consistent work pattern
· Critical thinking skills
· Associate degree or equivalent experience
· Ability to type 35 words per minute
· Ability to lift 35lbs
· Must accommodate retail schedule which includes indefinite end times, weekends, holidays, based on business needs. Due to high volume during peak season warehouse employees are expected to work a 6-day work week
· Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish or English/Creole)
