What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Office Position (part-time) position at Bay Area Pet Adoptions?
We have some exciting things planned for 2025, so we are preparing for a busy year and adding staff positions! Bay Area Pet Adoptions is currently adding a part-time Front Office position. If you love animals and are interested in a part-time position, please read the description carefully.
Candidates with verifiable work experience in animal related industry are preferred. Only applicants with current resumes will be considered. References will be verified.
The shelter is staffed 7 days a week. Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
This position includes but is not limited to:
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Scheduling appointments
- Answering phones
- Computer scheduling and data entry
- Launder and dry towels and blankets
- Cleaning the office building daily, and cleaning other areas of the facility to control the spread of disease, keeping everything tidy and tour ready
- Providing food/supplies to community members from our Pet Food Pantry
- Stocking the Pet Food Pantry
- Accepting donations and keeping them organized, preparing individual food packages for community members, ect…
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Cross-training for other positions may apply.
Must be comfortable working with dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.
REQUIREMENTS
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Must have reliable, daily transportation.
- Must be reliable and show up to work, ready to work.
- Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
- Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor.
- Ability to work in hot and cold temperatures.
- Possess strong communication skills. You must have the ability to communicate with staff members, leadership and the public.
- Computer skills, good phone etiquette, appointment scheduling, data entry, and good customer service skills are required
- Ability to be productive, efficient, and respectful during high stress periods.
- Willingness to learn and ability to retain information taught.
- Apply knowledge and skills in controlling/handling individual animal temperament.
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Understand and carry out oral and written direction.
- Be Pro-Active!
Note: There are frequently dogs/puppies in the office area. You will need to clean up after them as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with dogs and cats of all sizes, breeds and temperaments; exposure to unpleasant odors and loud noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; and possible exposure to contagious diseases.
