Our hospital is seeking a Full-Time Small Veterinary Technician to help provide outstanding patient care and client service in a fast-paced, multi-doctor animal hospital.

At Beard Navasota Animal Hospital, the role of Small Animal Veterinary Technician is an exciting, fast-paced opportunity that will allow you to utilize the skills that you have worked so hard to gain or teach you skills that will allow you gain experience as a Veterinary Technician. As a Small Veterinary Technician, you will:
- Triage emergency cases as they arrive at the hospital including obtaining vitals such as temperature heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique including proper positioning of patients.
- Have a complete understanding of normal ranges of patient vital signs, including but not limited to heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs and alert Veterinarian to changes and issues.
- Properly calculate medical math (including constant rate infusions) and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Have a passion for mentoring and training other co-workers.
- Have patience and empathy to address client concerns.
- Review vaccination records and prepare vaccines according to our vaccine protocol.
- Assist veterinarian with medical procedures using proper restraint and aseptic technique.
- Perform routine laboratory procedures.
- Induce anesthesia, intubate patient, and monitor anesthesia.
- Perform dental cleanings, ear cleanings, nail trims.
- Ensure cleanliness of exam rooms, surgical areas, treatment areas and kennels
- Dispense medications, pet foods and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensures accurate and efficient documentation of all vaccinations, procedures, notes and communications in the medical record.
The Small Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. The Technician helps during initial examinations by restraining animals when necessary, stocking examination and surgery rooms with supplies, sterilizing tools and ensuring that equipment is in working order. Technical skills will include, but are not limited to venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia administration, and monitoring, dental prophy, radiography, administering medications, performing laboratory analysis, and client education. Veterinary Technician's also communicate with clients (pet owners) and update patient files.

- Must be dependable, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
- Strives for client service that well exceeds expectations.
Position Requirements:
· Mandatory participation in emergency service/on-call rotation
· Participate in weekly surgical rotation
· Available to work as needed on weekends
· Ability to lift 50 lbs
Full-time 36 hours a week (benefits offered for full-time positions only)
Pay: Pay will be determined based on experience.
Pay: $10.00 - $18.00 per hour
