Description:
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Spanish Teacher for a long term substitute position starting in February of 2025. The ideal candidate will inspire students to learn the Spanish language and appreciate the cultures of Spanish-speaking communities around the world. You will be familiar with ACTFL standards and a proficiency-orientated approach to language instruction and assessment. You should have experience working with all levels of language learners from beginners to advanced and be able to differentiate instruction for a diverse range of learning styles. The World Language Department of Bedford Public Schools is a collaborative team of educators and is looking for someone who values sharing ideas and expertise to contribute to a community of lifelong learners.
Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver dynamic lesson plans that cover a range of proficiency levels in Spanish language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing).
Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and cultural understanding.
Assess student learning through exams, quizzes, projects, and other means, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance, utilizing school-wide grading and reporting systems.
Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and instructional strategies across grade levels and disciplines.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic expectations.
Stay current with developments in Spanish language instruction and education, attending professional development workshops and conferences as needed.
Participate in school-wide activities, such as faculty meetings, committees, and extracurricular events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
MA teaching certification in Spanish.
Proven experience teaching Spanish at the secondary school level, with a strong understanding of language acquisition theories and methodologies.
Fluency in Spanish and a deep appreciation for the cultures of Spanish-speaking people.
Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
Commitment to professional growth and development as an educator
Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and a National Criminal Background Check including fingerprinting.
