System Route Specialist
Position Purpose
The duties include establishing bus routes, resolving transportation issues, arranging transportation for special events, and maintaining and operating a variety of computer software program in support of the districts’ transportation system. Essential Job Functions
- Assists in preparing documentation (e.g. hard copies of routes, log of events, mileage reports, fuel consumption reports, attendance reports, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and / or conveying information.
- Communicates with drivers and others (e.g. reviewing route maps, responding to inquiries, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with route related concerns.
- Evaluates routes (e.g. bus stops, clock schedules, etc.) for the purpose of determining bus routes in conformance with school policies while complying with mandated guidelines.
- Schedule students to routes and maintain student bus rider lists.
- Operate two-way radio in accordance with FCC regulations for the purpose of gathering, passing on and compiling information.
- Participates in meetings, training, etc. for the purpose of conveying and / or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Performs opening or lock-up duties as needed to ensure the facility is open or secure.
- Recommends route additions and changes (e.g. finds new development and map information, etc.) for the purpose of providing the necessary information for student transportation.
- Substitutes for the dispatcher or drivers as needed.
- Maintains a Class B CDL with passenger, school bus, and air brake endorsements. Must also comply with all requirements (drug screens and DOT physical) to maintain the CDL.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Travel Requirements
Travels to and from school district buildings, to vehicle service stations, field trip locations and other destinations are required.
