The COGEN Foreman reports to the District Cogen Superintendent and is an integral member of the Cogen team, responsible for supporting the management of all cogeneration plant operations, including personnel, safety, and environmental compliance. Key Accountabilities
- Leads cogeneration operations team in day-to-day operation and maintenance of cogeneration facilities and related equipment.
- Works closely with engineering and SCADA team to manage visualization, control panels, alarm setpoints, and operating parameters to maximize operational control.
- Ensures personal and team compliance with and participation in all required Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, practices, programs, and training.
- Collaborates with the operational and HSE teams to meet HSE goals and foster a safe work environment through continuous improvement.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Responds to operational issues to minimize disruptions to field and cogen operations maximizing plant value.
- Identifies opportunities for operational improvements and uses the Management of Change procedure to implement. Reviews all operational failures and makes recommendations.
- Supervises operations team scheduling power exports for all PPAs to energy scheduling penalties and maximize cogen value.
- Coordinates with and facilitates good working relationships with counterpart internal soft water suppliers and steam and power customers.
- Develops annual operating expense budgets.
- Assists in developing annual capital spending budget.
- Reviews third-party invoicing and tracks expenditures.
- Assists in creating annual cogen revenue forecasts for energy export.
- Supervises Federal and State Regulatory Filings (FERC EQR, CEC 1304, EIA, etc.).
- Schedules and tracks natural gas nominations and usage.
- Collaborates with Berry EH&S Department on greenhouse gas regulations and associated costs.
- Manages crew schedule to ensure plant coverage.
- Leads employee hiring, orientation, training, development, and performance evaluations.
- Participates in the orientation, training, development, performance evaluation, and selection process for new employees.
- Represents the Company in interactions with power customers, vendors, contractors, and regulators.
- Prepares and presents operational summaries and recommendations as needed.
- Collaborates with the operational and HSE teams to effectively meet area and departmental HSE goals.
- Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
- Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards, and job performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Certificates, Licenses
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related science preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record required.
Experience
- 4 years of power generation or gas turbine experience.
- 3 years of supervisory experience.
- 2 years of oilfield operations experience preferred.

Work Environment
This role works primarily in a non-office environment. In this capacity, incumbents are regularly:
- Exposed to outdoor elements such as extreme heat or cold, heavy winds, rain, or snow.
- Exposed to loud noise level elements
- Required to drive to and access job sites, in light of day as well as in darkness, to perform work assignments. Some job site locations may be remote from the office requiring long drives to locations isolated from interaction with others and towns.
- Required to balance, bend, squat, crouch, climb, reach, grasp, stoop, kneel, push/pull and lift objects, and use apparatus to push/pull and lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
- Subject to exposure to hazards such as but not limited to slippery or uneven surfaces; environmental/industry hazards such as chemicals, high-decibel noise from production equipment, fumes, or poor ventilation; proximity to moving objects and vehicles; potentially combustible components; hazardous off- road conditions such as dust, ice, and snow.
- May be requested to work long hours to complete job assignments.
- May work a rotating schedule, shift, and/or be on call.
- Follow all company safety policies and protocols.
- Required to perform active, physical tasks including but not limited to operating equipment and/or machinery and making adjustments and repairs.
- Required to have visual acuity to work with parts, equipment, apparatus, etc.
- Required to possess audible acuity to hear alarms in the event of emergency. field locations.
Compensation and Benefits
The pay range for this position is between $111,240 and $132,098 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation (“Berry”) will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
