The Company is vertically integrated, with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Dallas, and Houston. Our 30-year track-record and balance sheet allow us to move quickly and creatively, structuring acquisitions to satisfy seller needs in a highly competitive market. Today, the Company owns nearly 100 properties representing approximately 10M square feet across 18 states. LOCATIONDallas, TX RESPONSIBILITIESThis role will be highly visible and integral to the financial management of the Company, working with and supporting other departments including Finance, Asset Management and Acquisitions. Essential Duties 
  • Manage the balance sheet and revenues/expenses of the Company;
  • Seek ways to reduce costs, enhance tax protection and manage the AP/AR functions:
  • Create strategic initiatives that generate more business opportunities for the company through external relationships, speaking, active in potential referral organizations/entities, networking;
  • Assess financial risks and recommend strategies to mitigate those risks;
  • Propose new strategies to successfully enable the achievement of the Company's vision and long-term goals
  • Responsible for leading and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financials, property accounting, budgeting and reporting process, and forecasting
  • Financial planning through financial modeling and analysis
  • Monitoring the financial performance of the Company
  • Respond to financial related questions from lenders, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with other internal departments to ensure that communications and presentation materials are accurate.
  • Oversee the month-end close, CAM reconciliation, and ensuring propriety and timeliness of payments to vendors and billings to tenants.
  • Review the general ledger and analysis of financial accounts.
  • Oversee the ‘budget – to actual’ variance analysis
  • Ensure budget and forecast models are accurate.
  • Execute special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.
Other DutiesFinancial Reporting & Management
  • Prepare and monitor Company cash flow projections for multiple operating entities
  • Cash management for multiple operating entities
Financing
  • Partner with the Company’s internal finance team
  • Participate in the review of closing statements on proposed transactions
  • Familiar with the acquisition and disposition process including experience with 1031 exchanges
  • Participate in the closing of all loan transactions
Income Tax Returns
  • Assist in coordinating with outside accounting firm to ensure tax returns are filed timely
  • Ensure that estimated taxes, business taxes, and other taxes are paid timely
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Undergraduate degree required in accounting or business-related field
  • Both a CPA and graduate degree a plus
  • 10 years of experience in real estate accounting or related field.
  • Likely candidate will have come through an accounting or finance background with an understanding of real estate debt markets
  • Experience in Yardi software
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally within all levels of the organization and externally with lenders and other outside parties
  • Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Must possess a strong work ethic
  • Must be a team player
  • Travel required (20%)
