Coordinator Community Education and Volunteer/Intern Program
POSITION SUMMARY: To create an environment that supports individual safety and breaks the cycle of domestic violence by providing services that include crisis intervention/safety planning, prevention programs, and public policy advocacy.
Accountable and responsible for the following results:
Community Education Program
- Prepare curriculum on domestic violence pertinent to various groups’ needs.
- Prepare, coordinate, and disseminate promotional and educational materials about Domestic Violence Programs.
- Promote the departments’ programs to ensure visibility and awareness of programs.
- Outreach to media sources, in coordination with the Director and supervisor, on agency programs and domestic violence issues in general, as requested.
- Initiate contact with and facilitates workshops and training on domestic violence with interested groups, including but not limited to churches, synagogues, schools, medical personnel, social service personnel, Law Enforcement, and elected officials.
- Maintain Partner relationships and recruit new partners as needed.
- Respond to inquiries about domestic violence and Domestic Violence Programs.
- Maintain schedule and prepares statistics on all workshops conducted through the data entry system.
- Attend Valley Senior Service Council and participate in area Elder Service collaborative committees.
- Responsible for reporting on grant requirements and statistics attached to their role.
Volunteer/Intern Program
- Program Development and Coordination of the Department’s Interns and Volunteers.
- Ensure there is a process for advertising, recruiting, and maintaining a robust Volunteer and Intern pool.
- Coordinate the application process with Volunteers/Interns and Human Resources.
- Facilitate Program Orientation for interns and volunteers.
- Actively recruits volunteers via media, attendance at established forums and other community settings to ensure diversity.
- Respond to requests for information about volunteer opportunities, including phone and in-person contacts.
- Organize and conduct 20-hour domestic violence certification training for volunteers and new hires, utilizing appropriate staff and community resources.
- Approve and update volunteer training materials.
- Maintain volunteer files.
- Maintains tracking system for volunteers, updating volunteer lists and tallying hours.
- Maintain and enhance professional proficiency by participating in continued education.
- Attend staff meeting, disposition meetings, supervision, and Domestic Violence Programs required in-services.
- Attend training sessions, workshops, and seminars as requested by supervisor, as needed for professional development, or as required for accreditation or licensing.
- Required to use own vehicle on company business or to transport clients.
- Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
- May perform other assignments and duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, public relations, or education. Three to five years of experience in related field, preferably in a domestic violence program.
- Ability to obtain certification as a Domestic Violence Counselor and maintain it on an annual basis (under CGS 52-146K as amended, regarding Confidential Communications).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft 365. Must be able to navigate through electronic health records system (EHR), if applicable.
- Knowledge of local community resources and networks and the ability/desire to work within these structures are essential.
- Demonstrated media and lobbying experience required.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must maintain an acceptable driving record and be insurable at a reasonable rate under the Organization’s auto insurance plan.
Salary : $55,752 - $78,073
