What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Development Staff - Williams Club (Part-time) position at Boys & Girls Clubs of North Alabama?
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities with in the Education program area. Build relationships, act as mentors, and model good decision making and social skills. Ensure inclusion and safety for all members.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Prepare Youth for Success
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:
- Promote and stimulate program participation.
- Participate as an active positive team member with supervisor, staff, volunteers, and members.
- Actively engaged with students in core area programs.
Program Development and Implementation
- Effectively plan and implement and administer programs, services and activities for members and visitors.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.
- Education – Homework, Fun Learning Activities, and Career Development.
- Write/ Implement weekly lesson plans.
Supervision
- Participates in unit staff meetings.
- Communicates effectively, maintain a safe environment for members both physically and emotionally.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- May participate in special programs and/or events.
- May be required to drive Club van.
- Participates in continuing education. (Webinars, Workshops, Conferences)
- Assume other duties as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External:Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- STEM knowledge
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Valid State Driver’s License
