Reports To: Athletic Director
Job Summary:
We are seeking an energetic, knowledgeable, and collaborative person to develop, implement, and help coordinate BGCSM’s sports program initiatives. Initial start-up activities will include clinics, leagues and camps for baseball, flag football, volleyball basketball and soccer. This position requires excellent organization, communication & problem-solving skills; knowledge of child development; prior experience in developing youth programming, coaching youth sports, or working with youth in a recreational or wellness setting; and a passion for service.
Sports Coordinator Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare & deliver exceptional sports clinics, camps and leagues, and activities to meet BGCSM’s mission and values, serve BGCSM’s members and the community, and attract new members and participants to BGCSM. Assist with development of special family and youth events and special events related to program development, public relations, and membership development.
- Lead the recruitment and registration of participants for all sports activities and initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with content team to create all collateral required for marketing and promoting the program (Print and Digital).
- Recruit, train and supervise coaches and volunteers to support the sports program.
- Supervise, hire, train & evaluate staff in program areas.
- Develop all practice and game schedules for all sports activities and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Athletic Director and Executive Director to create annual budget; maintain fiscal control over all aspects of programming.
- Attend Staff and community meetings as required.
- Collaborate with Athletic Director to create a comprehensive marketing plan for sports programs.
- Assist in oversight of physical facilities and maintenance of equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years working with/coordinating sports programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret written information.
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
- Willingness to assist in club program areas and follow instructions in a safe environment.
