What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician - SCR / SNCR / Combustion Equipment position at BravoTECH?
The Field Service Specialist serves as a subject matter expert, responsible for startup / commissioning, and resolution of technical issues. This position inspects product quality of Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Selective Non-Catalytic (SNCR) and Combustion equipment in the field and at fabricators to ensure product inspections and quality control procedures are performed and conducted as defined in the product specifications; and standards required by our customers/end user are fulfilled. The Field Service Specialist can adequately represent the company at customer/end user sites around the world.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:
At the Customer Site (North America):
- Support the sales team with inspections of existing equipment, checking for mechanical, electrical, and structural integrity of the system, as well as overall operational effectiveness.
- Support the equipment installation team with technical advice on the equipment, making sure they follow the project drawings and specifications.
- Lead the start-up of the equipment, ensuring the appropriate power, control systems, and process connections are 100% operable.
- Coordinate with plant personnel to commission the equipment, ensuring all systems are operable and emission reduction targets are being achieved.
- Oversees equipment installations and completes start-up and commissioning on all types of SCR, SNCR and Combustion systems.
- Works closely with engineering personnel on activities concerned with installing equipment, investigating, and resolving customer reports of technical problems with equipment and preventative maintenance.
- Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives and inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem as well as corrective actions.
- Maintains records of performance reports by completing documentation (including work orders for each job, maintenance checklists, etc…)
- Conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
In the Factory (primarily Southern and Northeast USA):
- Be the eyes and ears of the project team, providing general quality assurance for the finished product.
- Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to ensure the finished product works as designed prior to shipment to the customer. Sometimes these tests will be performed hand-in-hand with customer representatives.
- Generate a punch list of items to be corrected and coordinate completion of the punch list with the project team prior to shipment of the product.
In the Office (Monroe, CT):
- Provide feedback to the Engineering team on opportunities to improve equipment design.
- Complete field service reports and support the project team with necessary closeout documentation.
- Manages shipping and receiving operations
- Packages equipment for transport
- Operated fork truck for loading and unloading equipment
- Organizes and maintains shop facility
- Assists with property management including oversight of 3rd party trash, office cleaning and landscaping crews
In General
- Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the Company/OSHA; pursues safety initiatives in support of the Company’s vision of “zero accidents”; maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required
- 5 years’ experience working as a Field Services Specialist, Technician or Site Commissioning role.
- Valid in-state driver’s license. Driving record must meet acceptable company standards and be maintained as such to operate a vehicle while on company business. US Passport and ability to obtain a TWIC.
- Demonstrated track record of communicating and training plant associates to achieve the required knowledge transfer of equipment operations and safety features, as well as effectively communicating with customers and co-workers.
- Must be able to read and understand component technical documentation (ISA datasheets).
- Be able to apply knowledge of process instrumentation to test functionality and troubleshoot items like pressure transmitters, flow control valves, etc.
- Be able to apply knowledge of rotating equipment and accessories to ensure functionality and troubleshoot items like fans, dampers, and flow meters.
- Be able to read wiring schematics and diagrams for all equipment and test resistance and continuity for low voltage and high voltage (up to 480V) systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA and API safety regulations and the ability to successfully complete site-specific customer safety training.
- Basic ability to use the Microsoft Office suite of products to effectively communicate with project team members.
- Significant travel is required, as necessary; must have the ability to travel throughout North America. Must be willing to work weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in related field preferred.
- Experience with exhaust systems, SCR, SNCR, combustion equipment, control systems and field startup/ commissioning preferable. Knowledge of air flow, differential pressure in liquids and gases, and other experience from chemical, hydrocarbon, and acid gas process streams preferred.
- Knowledge of and ability to program logic controllers (PLC) is a plus.
