What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Worker position at BRIGHT AND EARLY DISCOVERIES?
Bright and Early Discoveries (BED), is seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team working in our School Age Child Care (SACC) programs. Our programs take place before/after school and some out-of-school breaks and closings including summer months. Our SACC program service youth in kindergarten through fifth grade in the Riverhead School Districts. Child Care Workers work under the direction of the Site Director for our SACC Programs and are responsible for facilitating the daily lesson plans to children. Programs provide morning and afternoon childcare and enrichment when school is in session, Monday through Friday, in the mornings from 6:45AM to 9:30AM and in the afternoons from 3:00PM to 6:00PM (actual program hours may vary based on school and operational needs of the organization).
Job Duties:
-Facilitate the daily/weekly lesson plan and activities as directed by the Site Supervisor.
-Provide direct leadership to the assigned group unless relieved properly by an appropriate staff person.
-Maintain constant visual contact with all assigned children.
-Maintain a safe and clean program area that complies with all standards and regulations of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and organization’s policies.
-Develop and maintain a positive relationship with children, parents, school personnel, BED Administrators and colleagues.
-Interact with children in a variety of both indoor and outdoor settings to provide a positive learning environment.
-Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
-Preferrable if you have reliable transportation. This position may require that you work at a different program location throughout your work day/week.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
-Must be at least 18 years old.
-High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
-Excellent communication and organization skills.
-Must speak English well enough to communicate with children, families, management and colleagues.
-Must have at least one year of experience working with children under the age of 13.
-Knowledge, experience, and skills in the areas of child development, values, education, and group activities, a plus.
-Experience with special needs students, a plus.
-Valid First Aid and CPR certifications are a plus but will provide training.
-Must be able to provide credentials, licenses, and/or certifications and submit to fingerprinting and background checks.
