By The Hand is a Chicago based, after-school program that emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the whole childmind, body and soul. Strategically located in Chicagos most under-resourced neighborhoods, By The Hand is currently serving over 1,500 kids in critical need across the city. By The Hand has after-school program locations in Altgeld-Murray, Austin, Cabrini-Green and Englewood. We partner with 17 Chicago Public Schools. Children are recommended by local principals who are failing in reading. In the 2017-2018 school year, 63% of our kids had all A's, B's and C's and 61% were rea...ding at grade level (up from 26% at the beginning of the year).
