Program Management and Implementation (Performs approximately 50% of day)
The Learning & Development Manager oversees the key personal development program and the Dream Initiative, which includes Life Coaching, Care Fund, First-Generation College Student Leadership, and GALLUP CliftonStrengths. This includes developing program calendars, establishing timelines, and coordinating implementation strategies. The role involves managing external coaches, mentors, and presenters while ensuring that program budgets and outcomes are effectively monitored. The manager also leads continuous quality improvement efforts, maintains program documentation, and ensures both in-person and virtual programming runs smoothly.
Collaboration and Resource Management (Performs approximately 20% of the day)
The manager ensures resources—both financial and human—are effectively allocated across multiple programs to maximize impact. This includes collaborating with internal stakeholders to secure funding and maintain program sustainability. They provide leadership and direction to program specialists and independent contractors, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Additionally, they work closely with colleagues in professional development, marketing, and community engagement to support cross-departmental initiatives. Active participation in team meetings, strategic discussions, and collaborative planning is essential to their role.
Performance Metrics and Program Evaluation (Performs approximately 15% of day)
Tracking and analyzing program data is essential to ensure effectiveness and participant satisfaction. The manager regularly compiles and reviews key performance indicators, prepares impact reports, and develops program evaluation tools. Findings are shared with leadership, and insights are used to refine program strategies and improve overall outcomes.
Strategic Planning (Performs approximately 10% of day)
The manager plays a vital role in shaping the Learning & Development department’s strategy by collaborating to set annual program goals, managing budgets, and identifying opportunities for growth. They participate in department leadership meetings, collaborate on department-wide initiatives, and explore ways to scale or improve existing programs. Additionally, they help design new personal development initiatives that align with organizational needs.
Perform Other Duties as Assigned (Performs approximately 5% of day)
In addition to core responsibilities, the manager supports broader organizational initiatives, including company functions, committee participation, and strategic planning sessions. Qualifications
Education/Training/Experience/License Required:
Bachelor’s degree required with at least five years of experience in program development and management, team management, communications, special events, or related fields. Strong ability to communicate effectively through written and spoken communication, including public speaking in both virtual and in-person settings. Candidates should have experience with administrative processes, including word processing, file management, and form design. Preferred qualifications include event coordination, program management, or marketing experience. Strong customer service skills are essential, with the ability to assess needs and ensure high-quality service. The role requires excellent interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
