Kitchen Assistant
Title: Kitchen Assistant
Reports to: Food Service Director
Work Year: 10 months
Position Focus:
Kitchen Assistant Staff are to perform skilled work in the preparation and cooking of food on a large scale, perform duties as required by the supervisor.

Position Parameters
- Prepare, cook, and serve food in accordance with accepted institutional procedures
- Follow the daily work schedule and recipes for food preparation and prepares for the following day
- Follow Food Service Director’s directions and assist as needed
- Manage assigned areas to perform such necessary tasks as setting up and replenishing serving lines
- Inspect all food items for quality criteria on the serving line
- Maintain temperature of all foods prior to and during service to insure we meet established standards
- Package and serve proper food portions as directed
- Manage the cash register, charges meals accordingly, counts out cash and completes receipts for the day
- Maintain all lunch tables, serving line and microwaves neat and clean
- Plan with the supervisor for the use of leftover food
- Clean all utensils and equipment used, disposes of garbage
- Maintain storage of all food items
- Keep work areas, storeroom and fridges/freezers neat and clean; prepared for any inspection
- Keep dish area sanitized and thoroughly clean
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates
- Assist in the procurement of all supplies, food inventory, and the completion of stockroom check-out sheets
- Assist with additional food service needs e.g. special dinners, lunches or breakfasts
Qualifications
- The Food Service Staff must have a willingness to learn food preparation and serve others in this capacity.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or a GED
- CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain within 2 months of employment
- A Christian who is a member of good standing in a Bible believing church
