2025 Summer Intent for Summer Adventure Camp (SAC)

**PLEASE READ**To offer full transparency, the Summer Adventure Camp Program is currently undergoing a major redesign. The new Summer Adventure Camp model will have a stronger emphasis on outdoor programming and field trips, including traditional walking, biking, and people mover excursions. Additionally we will include weekly visits to Camp Fireweed and other exciting excursions, expanding the scope of experiences offered.
Another significant change will be to staff schedules. All positions will now require full-time, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. As the program evolves, the details provided here—including position titles, program hours, and the program name—may be subject to some adjustments.
Additionally, a town hall meeting will be held in December (more details to come) to provide further information about the redesigned Summer Adventure Camp program and to address any questions you may have.

Program Overview
Program: This is a licensed summer day camp.
Location: SAC operates out of multiple Anchorage School District elementary schools ranging from Anchorage to Eagle River. (Locations TBD)
Program Hours: SAC program operates from 7:30am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday.
Program Dates: Late May, beginning with start-up training and running through Late July/Early August.
Positions Available
- Program Staff
- Pay rate $17.07/hour
- Assigned shifts of 8 hours /day
- This position directly supervises youth at Camp Fire Alaska Summer Adventure Camp sites and centers. This position requires strong group management, behavior management and facilitation skills to support an assigned cohort of youth throughout the program day.
- Assistant Site Director
- Pay range $18.90 - $21.55/hour
- Assigned shifts of 8 hours/day
- This position provides quality program delivery, leadership and supervision at Summer Adventure Camp consistent with Camp Fire Alaska’s Youth Development Framework. In addition to assisting the Senior Site Director throughout the day, this position will support quality youth development programming, which includes activities, guest speakers, and field trips. The person filling this position will help coach and train youth and staff; and supervise and administer agency policies and procedures to comply with licensing and funding standards.
- Activity Specialist
- Pay range $18.90 - $21.55/hour
- Assigned shifts of 8 hours/day
- Activity Specialists are responsible for creating innovative programming for youth through planning and facilitating specialized activities and programming that further learning, promote the development of new skills, increase social engagement, and involve youth in fun creative activities. Engage in work that supports Camp Fire’s Promise to provide youth with the opportunity to find their spark, lift their voice and discover who they are.
