WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The Manager, Parts and Inventory will manage the procurement, purchasing, storage, distribution and security of parts, supplies, materials and equipment to support the overall vehicle and facilities maintenance activities. Maintains inventory of all required items.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Implement plans and objectives that assure delivery and availability of parts, materials and supplies to fully support the repair and maintenance of buses, vans, automobiles and facilities of the organization.
- Manage the control and security of parts, supplies and materials as needed, at minimum levels of storage cost and with zero stock-out interruptions of maintenance and repair activities.
- Maintain an inventory of all parts, supplies and materials for management and fiscal audits.
- Research and establish best practices regarding computer aided inventory management requirements.
- Recommend changes to policies, procedures, and programs that focus on improving the effectiveness of operational performance.
- Ensure that the key performance indicators (KPI’s) for staff on service delivery, work performance and accountability are achieved.
- Maintain up-to-date techniques and equipment for inventory control to improve operating efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support efforts to resolve customer concerns about inventory shortages and related issues and assist in the development of training programs that focus on improved department processes.
- Responsible for always maintaining a safe working environment.
- May be required to be available 24 hours per day/7 days per week.
- Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems (SMS) process by ensuring staff follows safety and security policies, considers safety in every action, and ensures safety and security concerns are reported.
- Perform other position related duties as required and/or assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES - SUPERVISOR AND/OR LEADERSHIP EXERCISED:
Direct and manage department personnel by planning, scheduling, delegating, and overseeing employee work assignments, authorizing, coordinating, and scheduling work with vendors and consultants, conducting personnel actions, including, hiring, and interviewing, and overseeing hiring, training, work assignments, and performance evaluations.
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School or GED.
- Nine (9) years progressively responsible work experience in parts acquisition or inventory control where primary or exclusive materials have been vehicle parts. Two (2) years supervision of vehicle maintenance or parts and inventory staff in a bargaining unit environment.
- Experience with computerized inventory control systems and transit vehicle parts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of the materials control area and of the computer hardware and software systems applicable in acquiring, storing, handling and distributing hard materials in small lots; technical knowledge of vendors, service contractors, manufacturers and carriers active in the vehicle parts industry and the materials handling industry.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed in an office and outside environment with exposure to inclement weather and adverse weather conditions. This position works with multiple project timelines and is responsible for managing employees performing work of a complex nature.
Incumbent must have the ability to stand, walk and travel 90% throughout the work day. This position will need to have the ability to work varying shifts, days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, to meet the department needs. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to use a telephone or headset equipment. Incumbent must be able to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs., perform work at a computer terminal for 6-8 hours a day, and function in an environment with constant interruptions. This position may require work beyond a normal forty-hour weekly schedule.

Mobility Status:
As a Stationed position, the incumbent is expected to be assigned an individual workspace. Expected to work in the office 4 days a week. This role is based in Austin, Texas and requires relocation to the Austin, Texas area prior to start date.
