Overview
NECO is seeking a high-energy, self-driven professional with 2-7 years of experience to join our team in the role of Kentucky Territory Manager (TM). The TM will make it their mission to provide industry-leading service to NECO’s existing customer base and develop new business within their Territory. As a strong communicator and skilled problem-solver, the TM will have a major impact on NECO’s continued growth and customer service.
Objectives of this Role
Goal #1: Business development throughout the territory.
· Complete in-person site visits to prospective customers, working closely with the Sales Manager to determine the appropriate frequency of visits & sales strategy
· Build a profile of each Utility in the territory – key decision makers, contact information, meter supplier, reading technology, age of products installed, political dynamics
· Become an expert on the competitor’s products – based on information acquired during site visits to prospective accounts, report on their strengths, weaknesses, price ranges, warranty, local service, etc.
· Be top-of-mind when the Utility is ready to evaluate other meter vendors and potentially make a switch
Goal #2: Service NECO’s existing customers, encouraging R900 upgrades & developing strategies for sustainable growth
· Complete in-person site visits to existing customers, solidifying relationships with key Utility leadership and serving as a valued partner to their operations team
· Provide basic training and technical support to existing customers on meter reading equipment and software
· Build brand loyalty - ensure the account does not become a target of NECO’s competitors by offering unrivaled service and personalized attention to Utility management and key operators
Responsibilities
Prospective Accounts
· Complete in-person visits as assigned by Sales Manager – ensuring that each prospect is contacted (at a minimum) every 6 weeks
· Establish, develop and maintain positive relationships with key leadership and operators within the target account
· Competitive intelligence – supply management with information on how competitors are performing within the target account, including product success/failure, pricing ranges, local service, warranty, etc.
Existing Accounts
· Complete in-person visits to designated existing customers in the Sales Territory
· Provide customers with sales quotes (as requested) and place product orders
· Facilitate the collection and return of non-working product under warranty
· Take support calls from existing customers – solving Tier 1 issues and facilitating communication cross-functionally to address more complex issues
· Be knowledgeable about the product – answer questions and emphasize the features and benefits to highlight how they solve customer problems
· Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports
· Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
· Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends
Required Skills and Qualifications
· 2-7 Years of sales experience, demonstrating growth and product expertise
· Customer service skills to listen to the concerns of a customer and be able to address their needs
· Interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of people each day, build relationships and network
· Confidence and strong self-assuredness to succeed in cold-calling customers and making a sale
· Communication skills, especially persuasion, to clearly convey the benefits of a product to potential customers
· Physical endurance, as TMs may need to be on their feet for long hours, spend a lot of time driving between locations and carry heavy products
· Have a deep understanding of the sales process and dynamics, both operational and political, within the account
· Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
· Competency in Microsoft applications including word, excel, and outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing or related field.
Annual Compensation Target: $100,000
The Kentucky Territory Manager receives a commission based on the gross margin of product sales and a percentage of revenue for Field sales and Tech sales. There is no cap on commission, allowing the TM to benefit financially from the territory’s growth. An annual bonus program further rewards the TM’s success.
Job Location
The TM will be based out of their home. Occasional travel to NECO’s home office in Cincinnati, OH will be required.
The TM is expected to be out in the territory most days with 2-4 overnight stays possibly required each month. All expenses will be reimbursed. NECO will provide the TM with a comprehensive vehicle package (monthly allowance for company use of personal vehicle and reimbursement for insurance expenses and repair/maintenance)
