Statement of General Purpose
The Food Service Lead is responsible for prepping, cooking, and serving healthy nutritious meals to children at the Community Center. The position also requires cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen, work stations, appliances and all other eating areas at the Community Center. The Food Service Lead is also responsible for the transporting of meals to other facilities throughout the Philadelphia area, when required. Applicants must be able to cook meals made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Applicants must possess a current driver’s license, a working vehicle and have a clean driving record. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
Examples of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Preps, cooks and serves all meals and snacks to Center Program Participants.
· Follows recipes and prepares meals using fresh and raw ingredients.
· Cleans and sanitizes kitchen, work stations, appliances, eating areas and storage areas.
· Prepares a weekly inventory listing of products available for use.
· Prepares a weekly order list of items needed to fulfill menu.
· Communicates kitchen needs to management
· Complies with health and safety requirements for food service department employees, cleaning materials and chemicals, tools and equipment, etc.
· Transport meals to facilities throughout the Philadelphia area.
· Performs related work as required.
Core Competencies
· Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
· Ability to pass the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the Summer Food Service Program annual exam.
· Ability to comply with the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the Summer Food Service Program rules and regulations.
· Ability to maintain clean, neat, and hygienic work environment.
· Intermediate mathematical computation (inventory and ordering)
· Basic Understanding of Excel
· Knife skills
Minimum Qualifications
· High school diploma or G.E.D., or Culinary certificate and
· Valid Serve Safe Certification (Manager Certification) and
· 1 year experience in large-volume food service, or
· Any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience
· Operable vehicle
Other Requirements
· This position includes the normal physical demands associated with a large-volume food service department, including lifting, bending, and carrying; extremes of heat and cold; hazardous materials requiring special use and storage requirements; and travel to other facilities throughout the Philadelphia area.
· This position is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Salary : $16 - $22
