What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Designer position at Casey's?

As an Instructional Designer on our Learning & Development team, you will develop and maintain training media, materials, and methods to support Casey’s change and learning initiatives. This role collaborates with learning business partners, technical writers, and business units to enhance instructional programs. Development efforts range from job aids to instructor-led courses and computer-based training. The position involves collaborating with subject matter experts and conducting research to create engaging and interactive learning solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop effective learning solutions for learning platforms such as instructor led, self-paced, interactive eLearning, webinars, job aids, videos, scenarios, and blended solutions using interactive scripts and storyboards while continuing to learn and apply industry best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Establish relationships with learning business partners to stay aligned, forecast learning needs and recommend learning solutions.
  • Create material/media that supports business units (audio, video, simulations, presentations, communications, flyers, etc.).
  • Implement online learning content with the target audience.
  • Responsible for training the audience on LMS navigation, system requirements, and system operations.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work-related experience.
  • At least five years of experience developing programs of instruction.
  • Experience working in an agile (SCRUM) and waterfall (ADDIE) design environment.
  • Proficiency with industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Storyline, Camtasia, Vyond).
  • Demonstration of applying principles and methods for curriculum and training design.
  • Experience creating stand-alone eLearning courses or online presentations for instructor-led training.
  • Experience in storyboarding to author eLearning using multimedia applications similar to Articulate Storyline and Adobe Captivate, video and audio editing software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, editing and collaboration skills, with meticulous attention to detail with accurate grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Strong time management, multi-tasking, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills. Must possess strong project management skills to meet design deadlines.
  • Proficiency in instructional design, curriculum design, and eLearning development, including recording, editing, and syncing voiceover narration to instructional programs.
  • Understanding of ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) learning models and knowledge of adult learning theories.
  • Service oriented with strong interpersonal skills for successful collaboration; able to maintain professional relationships across all organization levels.

Preferred:

  • Master’s in Adult learning or Instructional Design/Technology.
