System Admin/DBA II (Full-Time Days) - Information Technology
Who You Are:
Catholic Medical Center is seeking an experienced and highly skilled System Administrator/DBA with a strong technical background in managing and maintaining databases, systems hardware, and related infrastructure. You have a solid understanding of database systems, backups, consistency checks, error monitoring, performance, integrity, and security. You are dedicated to providing reliable services, working well under pressure, and ensuring maximum availability of applications.
What You'll Do:
- Troubleshoot, support, repair, and coordinate continuous service of technology in your area of responsibility.
- Develop, document, implement, and maintain standards and procedures for database, server, storage, and backup systems.
- Schedule, plan, and participate in the installation and testing of new products and system improvements, including databases, servers, storage, and virtualization systems.
- Interact with hospital departments, vendors, and customers to identify problems, opportunities, and solutions.
- Monitor and manage technology supporting applications to maintain performance, availability, integrity, and security.
- Install, maintain, and upgrade Development, Test, Training, and Production database environments; restore and recover data as needed.
- Act as an escalation contact for Desktop, Service Desk, and Applications staff in resolving issues.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Application Analysts, Clinical Analysts, and other I.S. staff to ensure reliable services and high application availability.
- Provide I.S. and user management with technology solutions and research alternatives.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering, or equivalent experience/certification.
- Experience analyzing, designing, configuring, and implementing technology solutions in a multi-platform environment.
- Database and system administration experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with:
- Writing and tuning queries in T-SQL and/or PL/SQL
- Microsoft SQL Server database technologies, reporting, and auditing
- Failover clustering, SAN replication, or high availability technologies (e.g., SQL Always On Availability Groups)
- Server, storage, desktop, and application virtualization (e.g., Citrix, VMWare, IBM SVC)
- Storage technologies (SAN/NAS)
- Fiber-channel networking
- Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange
- Enterprise backup solutions, preferably Tivoli Storage Manager
- Microsoft Windows Server operating systems
