Associate Producer, CBS Mornings (2am - 10am)

CBS MORNINGS is seeking a hard-working, creative, and enterprising Associate Producer with strong research skills and proven writing experience to join our Overnight/Hard News team!

The ideal candidate will have a firm command of journalistic standards, a keen attention to detail, and excellent newsgathering and researching skills. They must also be calm and efficient during breaking news and a collaborative member of a newsroom. This role is responsible for helping produce day-of-air live segments about news and culture topics and will work closely with the Executive and Senior Broadcast Producer. A standout candidate for this opportunity will understand how visual graphics and elements help bring a live segment to life.

Additional duties include:

• Exercise editorial judgment in selection of content

• Write copy and questions for anchors and contributors for news and culture segments

• Find and choose elements for news and culture segments and work with editors to get those elements cut
• Know where to find and how to pull specific video and soundbites

Requirements:

• 3 or more years work experience in TV news

• Live segment producing experience
• Experience operating cameras and shooting pieces
• Experience editing
• Must possess a driver’s license and be willing to drive
• Must be willing to work an overnight, full time in-office position. The hours will be 2am - 10am, Monday - Friday

• The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deal with intense deadlines, and react with thoughtful programming ideas and questions

• Strong communication skills
• You are a self-starter while also taking direction from producers and senior producers
• Strong editorial judgment and excellent writing skills
• Understanding of newsgathering and transmission technology
• Strong research skills and familiarity with public and private records databases, such as Lexis Nexis

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $60,000.00 - 75,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
