SUMMARY
Responsible for overseeing financial records and accounting practices, including preparing financial statements, managing complex reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulations, analyzing financial data, and a variety of other accounting functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in monthly close and prepare journal entries and reconciliations in a timely manner and in accordance with GAPP.
- Maintain fixed assets and related documentation including CERs, POs, and related vendor invoices for each project.
- Manage the accounts payable process and ensure that A/P aging report (subsystem detail) balances to general ledger control account total (liability account)
- Assist with annual capital and financial operating budgets.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting package for management.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and assist with testing.
- Various accounting projects
- Month end balance sheet reconciliations
- Review department operations and recommends enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- All other duties as assigned.
REPORTING LINE
You will report directly to the Controller then to the Director of Finance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- 5-7 years Accounting Experience.
- Employee must have a thorough knowledge of all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to approval of credit lines/applications.
- Employee must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and have knowledge of Accounting and Budgetary processes.
- Must have excellent communication skills, be polite, and present a neat appearance at all times.
- The ability to work with others as a team in an efficient manner.
- You will need to be available to work all shifts.
- The ability to work in a fast –paced environment.
- You must be at least 21 years old.
- You also must be able to pass a background investigation and obtain and maintain a WV Racing License.
EDUCATIONAL AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Business Finance, Accounting or a closely related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand/walk/ sit for extended periods. The ability to push, pull, kneel, twist, bend, carry and lift up to 20 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Will be exposed to working in a noisy, smoke/secondary smoke environment and seasonal elements.
