Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory is a Catholic co-educational school serving students in grades 9-12 in Hollywood, FL. Situated equidistant from Fort Lauderdale and Miami this vibrant 700 student community boasts a challenging curriculum and variety of extracurricular activities. The Deans of Students’ responsibilities are shared between two individuals who work closely with the students, teachers, and other administrators. This is an 11-month position (July off) and offers a competitive salary and benefits package. A bachelors degree is required (Masters preferred) in education or related field.
Job Overview
Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Dean of Students to support student discipline, maintain a positive school culture, and ensure a safe and orderly campus environment. This individual will work closely with students, parents, faculty, and administration to uphold behavioral expectations and foster a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate student behavior records and oversee discipline procedures in accordance with the Parent/Student Handbook.
- Utilize Rediker to track and manage student discipline matters.
- Support faculty, staff, and student leaders in promoting behavioral compliance.
- Facilitate the Discipline Board and oversee student disciplinary actions.
- Communicate regularly with parents and keep the Assistant Head of School informed about student behavior concerns.
- Recommend policy changes related to student discipline and school culture.
- Provide proactive supervision throughout campus, including passing periods, before/after school, and lunch periods.
- Assist teachers and staff with student behavior concerns as needed.
- Organize and participate in school safety drills.
- Help develop and maintain a daily supervision schedule.
- Rotate morning tardy processing duties with other Deans.
- Conduct afternoon security checks of all school entrances.
- Serve as a chaperone for key school events, including: Encounter Retreat, Homecoming Dance, Prom, Grad Bash
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required; advanced degree preferred.
- Strong commitment to the mission and values of the school
- Excellent organizational, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with high school students and their families.
- Proactive and collaborative approach to student support.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
- Experience in student discipline, education, or school administration is a plus.
