What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Coordinator position at Chapman Partnership?
SUMMARY:
The Family Coordinator will provide ongoing daily support and guidance to all families with school-aged children residing at Chapman Partnership. The Family Coordinator will act as the liaison between different internal departments and community partners regarding educational needs for Chapman’s school-aged residents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create and maintain census of all youth enrolled in Kindergarten through 12th grade residing at the Center.
- Track and monitor school attendance, FRC attendance, truancy and other designated indicators for school-age children.
- Assist with school registrations, coordinate school transportation (when necessary), and provide school aged children with basic school needs (i.e. uniforms and school supplies).team to monitor and learn from progress toward goals.
- Provide direct assistance with morning wake-up and preparation for school.
- Collaborate with other departments within Chapman Partnership, as well as M-DCPS school district personnel in order to monitor and problem-solve around child growth and regression.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or Education or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with homeless or at-risk children and families.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Chapman Partnership policies and procedures.
- Knowledge or experience with agencies involved in homelessness, childcare and education.
- Knowledge of the developmental/instructional needs of a wide variety of students (K- 12).
- Ability to be mission-focused, empathetic, sincere, assertive, and confident.
- Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to lead by example.
- Ability to provide effective support and guidance to further develop professionals within the department.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel.
- Effective time management and project management skills.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or English and Creole preferred.
