Founded in 1975 by the Junior Service League of Independence, CAPA’s mission is to prevent and treat all forms of child abuse and neglect by creating changes in individuals, families, and society that strengthen relationships and promote healing. Since becoming a United Way partner agency in 1978, CAPA has grown from a simple helpline to a holistic agency that provides counseling and treatment programs for children and non-offending caregivers who have experienced abuse or trauma, child abuse prevention education, parenting education classes, and home-visiting family support services.

  • Serve as the spokesperson of CAPA and work diligently to promote the organization through increased visibility, funding, and community engagement with the support of a strong Board, seasoned staff, and dedicated volunteers.
  • Active leadership of and engagement with the Staff on the delivery of all services and programs, ensuring compliance measures and best practices are followed.
  • Maintain the fiscal and operational health of CAPA by working with the Staff to ensure funds are properly allocated to reflect present needs and future potential.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork that helps the Staff and volunteers excel.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in a leadership position within a similar sized organization; prior nonprofit experience ideal.

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach, manage and develop high-performance teams and work closely with a volunteer Board of Directors.
  • Outstanding presentation and interpersonal skills with the proven ability to be an effective spokesperson, relationship builder, and successful fundraiser.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, ideally MBA, MPA, MSW.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, self-directed, and adaptive leadership style.
