Child and Family Agency currently has an opening in our Healthy Futures program. This program works with caregivers and children under the age of 5 in Middlesex County, focusing on providing caregivers with the knowledge to help their child in all aspects of development. A certified Parent Educator implements the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curriculum in diverse, equitable, and inclusive ways, the Parent Educator partners, facilitates, and reflects with families. This is accomplished by providing education in the form of personal visits, group meetings, screenings, and linkages to a network of resources for parents and children.
Healthy Futures Parent Educator:
- conduct weekly in-home visits utilizing the Parents as Teachers (PAT) model, working around client’s schedules with the ultimate goal of increasing literacy and targeting school readiness
- provide caregivers the knowledge to support their child’s development
- provide the tools necessary to increase the parent-child interactions
- Provide developmental screenings
- assist caregivers with access to amazing community resources
- carry a caseload of 40 visits per month and arrange informative and interactive activities during each of their visits that are centered around the specific needs of the caregiver(s) and child
Our ideal candidate would be someone who is:
- reliable
- dependable
- detail oriented and enjoys a position that involves heavy data entry
- works well independently, but also enjoys teamwork and collaborating with internal and external sources to benefit the needs of their clients
- takes initiative and has a proactive approach
- committed to continuing their learning through professional development and training opportunities offered through Parents as Teachers, the Office of Early Childhood, and CT-AIMH
- preferably has a Bachelor’s in Early Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; or a high school diploma with at least 5 years experience working in early childhood education/pre-school settings
