What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention Specialist/Data Analyst position at Children's Aid and Family Services, Inc.?
Function: Provides support to the Bergen County Higher Education Addiction and Prevention Consortium (BC HEAP) in developing and implementing evidence-based prevention strategies aimed at reducing substance misuse on college campuses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, sociology, psychology or related field.
- Preferred: Professional with a Prevention or Public Health certification.
- Minimum three years of experience in an organization providing community collaboration, education, and prevention services including environmental change strategies.
- Bilingual/Spanish preferred
Skills and Knowledge required:
- Solid understanding of higher education institutions and substance use prevention
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrates sensitivity and tact in interpersonal relations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including well-developed public speaking skills.
- Proven ability to network with community resources, build relationships and create community partnerships.
- Ability to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Ability to design and coordinate special events and marketing campaigns.
- Local travel required with possible long-distance travel for conferences.
Responsibilities:
- Works with BC HEAP Director and BC HEAP members to conduct college needs assessments, build capacity, develop a strategic plan, implement strategies and evaluate effectiveness;
- Provides technical assistance in the distribution of college student surveys and oversees the data evaluation process with BC HEAP members;
- Collects college survey information results, aggregates data and presents findings to the BC HEAP and other college members;
- Creates, plans and implements prevention education programs and campaigns with BC HEAP members to ensure that strategies implemented demonstrate effectiveness;
- Assists with scheduling and coordinating BC HEAP meetings;
- Produces letters, flyers, social media posts;
- Maintains membership information, sign-in sheets, flyers, and other documentation;
- Attends BC HEAP meetings, college task force meetings as well as other local, statewide, and national meetings and trainings;
- Maintains current knowledge of alcohol and drug resources.

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
