Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Surgery Scheduler to join our dynamic Health a& Wellness team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical appointments, ensuring seamless communication between patients, surgeons, and medical staff. This position requires a strong understanding of medical scheduling, insurance verification, and office management skills to maintain an efficient workflow in our dental clinic environment.
Responsibilities
- Schedule surgical appointments for patients while considering the availability of operating rooms and surgeons.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.
- Review documentation to ensure all required information is complete and accurate prior to scheduling.
- Maintain organized records of scheduled surgeries and patient interactions using Athenahealth or similar health information management systems.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and post-operative follow-up appointments.
- Utilize phone systems to manage incoming calls, answer inquiries, and provide exceptional customer service.
- Collaborate with clinic staff to streamline scheduling processes and enhance patient care.
- Stay updated on medical terminology and relevant medical practices to facilitate effective communication within the team.
Experience
- Minimum of a High School Diploma and 1-3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, or equivalent combination of education and experience. ·
- Familiarity with EMR system.
- Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Critical thinking skills and a positive attitude essential.
